NESTLE GHANA TO PROMOTE THE HEALTH BENEFITS OF FOOD FORTICATION AMONG GHANAIANS

Nestle Ghana Limited has embarked on a series of capacity-building workshops for the media to enable them create the needed awareness in the Ghanaian public on product fortification and its benefits in the areas of  health and well-being.

 

Addressing the maiden edition of the workshops in Accra, yesterday, Antoinette Arkoh, Head, Human Resource, Nestle Ghana, pledged the commitment of the company in helping reduce micro-nutrients deficiency in young children and women of child-bearing age in the country.

 

Ms Arkoh stressed the need for collaboration between Nestle and the media in order to promote nutrition and its health and wellness benefits.

 

About 40 participants attended the workshop which was organized on the theme: “Addressing Micro-nutrient Deficiency in Ghana —The Role of Products Fortification”.

 

Resource persons at the workshop were Dr Etse Sikanku of the School of Communications, University of Ghana, who spoke on the role of the media in promoting health and well-being while Dr Gloria Otoo of the Food and Nutrition Department, University of Ghana, spoke on the theme for the workshop.

 

Mr Aaron Fenu, Corporate Communications and Public Affairs Manager of Nestle Ghana also spoke on the Nutrition, Health and Wellness commitments of Nestle Ghana.

 

In her closing remarks, Mrs Freda Duplan, Country Manager of Nestle Ghana Limited, underscored the importance of the workshop as a means of forging partnership between the company and the media.

 

The partnership, Mrs Duplan said, aimed to promote understanding by the media of the role of nutrition in health and well being to enable them create awareness among the Ghanaian public on good nutrition , product fortification and nutritional products.
