MPs Recalled to an Emergency Sitting

Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Edward Doe Adjaho, has recalled Members of Parliament to an emergency meeting.
The sitting which is expected to last from 1st to 3rd October is in accordance with Clause 3 of Article 112 of the 1992 Constitution and Order 42 (3) of the Standing Orders of the legislature.

Deputy Director of Public Affairs, Kate Addo, in an interview with  the Information Services Department (ISD)  said  the  sittings would among other things   consider the approval of Dr. Ekow Spio Garbrah, Minister of Trade designate who was vetted while the house was on recess.

She disclosed that the house would also consider outstanding Bills and Loan Agreement amongst others.

She disclosed that the sitting would take place at the Accra International Conference Center (AICC) because of on-going renovation works in the House.

"The Legislature cannot use the Chamber of Parliament due to reconfiguration works underway on the main Chamber block to accommodate the increased numbers. The current Chamber is overcrowded compelling MPs to share desks and microphones," she said.

Members of the legislature went on recess on 18th July and are expected to reconvene on 21st October, 2014.
