Support Street Naming Exercise to be successful-Planning Officer (A/R)

The Municipal Planning officer of Ejisu-Juaben, Mr. Collins Ohene Gyan, has called on citizens of Ejisu-Juaben to support the assembly to successfully implement the street naming exercise in the Juaben.

He stated that it was common to find people giving all sorts of directions to others that mislead them rather than directing them. This, he noted, would become a thing of the past when the street naming programme was successfully implemented saying, “it could not be done without the support of all stakeholders”. Mr.Gyan made the call when addressing a forum organized by the assembly to educate the people of the area on the street naming and property numbering exercise at Juaben, in the Ejisu-Juaben Municipality of the Ashanti Region last Tuesday.

The exercise was a response to a directive by the President John Mahama to the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies to carry out the exercise within a period of 18 months to facilitate service delivery.

Mr. Gyan appealed to the people not to only get actively involved in the exercise, but also ensure they protect the property of the assembly. He said a committee has been constituted to educate the citizens to ensure more understanding and compliance, adding that Juaben has a very nice based map to help the committee to do its work effectively and efficiency.

Mr.Gyan said when the exercise is completed, a visitor coming to Juaben can easily locate the direction where he or she was heading towards and that could be part of development.
