MMDAs Sign Performance Agreement Contract

The Greater Accra Regional Co-ordinating Council (RCC) has signed a Performance Agreement with the Metropolitan, Municipal and Districts Assemblies (MMDAs) in Accra.

The contract is to ensure that the MMDAs work harder to achieve set targets to bring development to the communities in which they have oversight responsibilities in order to improve upon the living standards of the people within their jurisdiction.

In a remark, Mr. Afotey Agbo, the Greater Accra Regional Minster charged the various Metropolitan, Municipal and Districts Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to ensure the people in their assemblies saw a change in their line of work in relation to developmental projects.

The minister said Assemblies needed to improve upon their revenue generation effort and not to rely solely on the Common Fund, which quite often delay in coming. He added that there was the need to put in place, measures to ensure that, people paid their taxes and levies  to their District Assemblies for developmental projects. This, the Minister said, was the underpinning reason for the decentralization concept which Ghana had opted for as a sure way of opening up the communities and in effect raising the standard of living of the people.
