The Ningo-Prampram District Assembly has confirmed the President’s nominee, Jonathan Teye Doku, as District Chief Executive (DCE).

In an address at the swearing-in, the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon. Ishmeal Ashitey, stressed the need to think about the development of the District and not be divided by politics.

Mr Ashietey urged members of the Assembly to give Mr Doku the required support.

The Member of Parliament for the Area, Hon. Sam George, in a statement, urged the newly-appointed DCE to work hard and bring the two Traditional Areas— Ningo and Prampram— together in unity.

In his acceptance speech, Mr Doku expressed gratitude to all who supported him and pledged an open door policy in the development agenda of the District.

Meanwhile, the Concerned Group of Prampram, who had earlier demonstrated their displeasure over the appointment of the nominee, have met with Elders of the District Assembly and representatives from the Regional Co-ordinating Council to thrash out their differences and, among other things, called on the new DCE to work and unite the two Traditional Areas of the District.

With the appointment of Mr Doku as DCE, his position as an Assembly Member for kugontsitse Electoral Area and Chairman of the Justice and Security Sub-Committee have become vacant.
