The Volta Regional Minister, Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa has visited the Tropigha Farms Limited at Gbefi in the Kpando Municipality that produces a total of 2,300 tons of fruits annually.
Situated on a 1000 acres, the company is engaged in the cultivation and export of fruits to the European market. It has currently has 300 acres of pineapple, 500 acres of pawpaw and 200 acres of other organic fruits.

Conducting the Regional Minister and his team round, the Liaison Officer of Tropigha Farms, Mr. Fuseini Mohammed lamented about the poor road network which had affected the transportation of the produce from Kpando to Accra for export.

According to him the journey which used to take three hours now takes more than five hours, a situation that affects the quality of some of the fruits, owing to their delicate nature.

He therefore appealed for an immediate intervention by the government to save the farm.

The Volta Regional Minister commended the management and staff for their efforts which is not only contributing to the development of the agriculture but reducing the unemployment situation in the country.

He reiterated government’s commitment to make agriculture the pivot of Ghana’s economic and social development.

Dr. Letsa gave the assurance that contractors will soon return to site to continue work on the Eastern Corridor Road, adding that “this will be completed by the year 2020 to address the challenges of the road network”.

The Minister announced that the Ho Airport will soon be opened for use to reduce the long hours of transporting goods to Accra for export.
