New Juaben South Assembly holds town hall meeting

The Krontihene of the New Juaben Traditional area, Barfour Nyantakyi Tutu Boateng has charged the management of the New Juaben South Assembly to find ways of developing the municipality vertically to befit it status. 

 

According to him, Koforidua at the moment lacks certain basic amenities which are supposed to attract investors.


The Krontihene made the call at a Town Hall Meeting organised by the Information Services Department in collaboration with the New Juaben South Municipal Assembly at Koforidua.


The meeting, initiated under the administration of President Nana Akufo-Addo, engages the citizenry on policies and programmes by the government and to take feedback from the citizenry.


Nana Nyantakyi Tutu Boateng said Nananom of the New Juaben Traditional Area are ready to work hand in hand with the management of the Assembly to bring the required development to the Koforidua township. He said the chiefs are solidly behind any government that comes to power with the motive of development.


In his address, the Municipal Chief Executive for the New Juaben South, Mr Isaac Appaw-Gyasi urged stakeholders to demonstrate a high sense of professionalism and discipline in their work.


According to him, the town hall meeting forms a core part of Ghana’s decentralisation process where various provisions are made to consult the citizenry in all stages of planning and budgeting. This enables the Assembly to know what people want and to do what they need.


“Since the inception of this government this has been strengthened, it enjoined upon us and in fact it is criminal not to engage your communities before decisions are taken and at the short interval report back to them”, he noted.


In her presentation, the New Juaben South Municipal Information Officer, Sethlina Adwoa Okai charged the public to contribute their quota to the development of the country, since government is trying it best to accelerate the country’s development.


She said owing the first two years of this administration has chalked a lot of successes in the area of health, education, agriculture and many more.
