The Twifo Atti Morkwa District Assembly has presented 50 People With Disabilities (PWDs) in the area various working tools and cash ranging from GH₡500 to GH₡3, 000 to engage in income generating activities.


Other items distributed included four wheel chairs, five wheel barrows, one foot sewing machine, two Industrial sewing machines ,a sewing machine and a Popcorn Machine.


Making the presentation, the District Chief Executive, Mr. Robert Agyemang Nyantakyi pleaded with the beneficiaries to utilize whatever they got profitably because “disability is not inability.


Individuals and unions that benefited from this financial support came from the Ghana Association of Ghana Blind Union, Mental Society of Ghana.


Ms. Charlotte Boakoh, got financial support for her medical care at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Ms. Elizabeth Gyatuah also got support to undergo surgery on her leg, while Mr. Eric Sessei will use his support to record his three songs on master demo and videos.


The DCE explained that the delay in disbursing the funds was due to changes in the payment system and promised that the assembly would not touch their portion of the District Assembly Common Fund.


In all a total of GH₡ 26, 000 was spent by the District Assembly Common Fund.


The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to Government for the support and promised to wisely utilize their portions judiciously.
