Bongo DCE presents school uniforms to Goo-Atandaa Basic school

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bongo, Mr. Peter Ayinbisa Ayamga, has presented 160 sets of school uniforms to pupils of the Goo-Atandaa Primary and Kindergarten schools.

This comes a week after he had made a promise to the authorities and pupils of the school during a visit. This was on the heels of a story aired on February 11, this year by Starr FM, an Accra-based radio station that more than 200 pupils of the school were without classrooms and had been exposed to bees in their environment, surrounded by trees.

Immediately the DCE learned of this, he moved to the school the following day for engagement with the authorities in order to have a personal insight into the situation.

After subsequent investigations, Mr. Ayinbisa announced that in 2016, Dr. Patricia Essilfie, a philanthropist and the founder of the Boys and Girls Club of Ghana, undertook to construct a modern nine-unit school block for the school.

This was after Dr. Essilfie had discussed the construction with the then DCE and community leaders.

Mr. Ayinbisa revealed that about 3,000 blocks had been molded for the commencement of the project while the Bongo District Assembly had drilled a borehole nearby, to facilitate the construction works.

He disclosed that the construction would continue in the next few weeks to get the structure in place in order to relieve the school children of their predicament.

The DCE indicated that the Goo-Atandaa Primary and KG would soon be beneficiaries of the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP).

The Regent of Goo, Naba Adaam Nyaaba, thanked the DCE for the gesture and pledged that henceforth, the community would do everything to ensure that the school projects run smoothly, saying that the children cannot wait any longer to have their lessons and other academic work under a befitting school structure.
