Unite to build the country Dr. Letsa

The Volta Regional Minister, Dr. Achibald Letsa, has echoed the need for Ghanaians to bury their differences and unite to build the country.

The Minister said Ghana had come a long way as a peaceful and independent country among other nations and, therefore, called on the citizenry to cooperate with the security agencies in maintaining law and order.

Dr. Letsa made the point at the 62nd independence anniversary celebration which was observed in all the regions with the Volta region marking its at the regional capital, Ho.

Officials from the various security agencies, school children and students from 26 basic and second-cycle schools, 32 NaBCO cadets and six school cadets took part in the Independence parade under the command of Major Alfred Ampong of the 66 Artillery Regiment.

Dr. Letsa said the government was committed to exploiting natural resources in the region and was, therefore, investing in the Voltaian Basin, which covers six other regions for oil onshore.

Apart from petroleum, the Minister said the government was also investing in other sectors and would soon introduce a bill in Parliament to establish an integrated iron and steel industry in the country.
