Volta Regional Minister Tours BECE Centres

The Volta Regional Minister, Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa, has implored candidates writing the 2019 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the region to put up their best in order to progress to the next academic ladder.

Dr. Letsa said it was important for the candidates to obtain good results in order to get a placement at their first choice schools and enjoy the free senior high education. He asked them to go into the examination halls with confidence and shun malpractices.

The Minister said this on Monday when he toured some BECE centres in the capital, Ho, which included Mawuli School, Mawuko Girls SHS, and Kabore School Complex.

The visit was to encourage the candidates and wish them well and to ensure everything was in place for a smooth take off.

The Regional Education Director, Enyonam Afi Amafugah, calmed candidates, telling them to, “be very comfortable, be very relaxed, the invigilators will be with you. If you need anything, the invigilator is your father, your mother.”

Also on the tour were Municipal Chief Executive for Ho, Nelson Akorli, Public Relations Officers, of the Regional Coordinating Council, Foster Huno and Regional Education Directorate, Believe Agorha and staff from regional and municipal education directorates.

A total of 37,785 junior high school pupils comprising 19,978 males and 17,807 females are expected to sit for this year’s BECE across the Volta Region.
