Adentan Municipality Holds My First Day At School GT/R

The Adentan Municipal Assembly (AdMA) has held my first day at school at the Adentan Community Kindergarten in Accra.

The Municipal Director of Education, Mr Kwesi Ashful welcomed the pupils and one of the main reasons of organizing ‘My First Day At School’, was to encourage parents to send their kids to schools and also to encourage the kids to stay in school.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon.Baroson Angenu said ‘My First Day At School’ was an annual national event aimed at encouraging pupils attending school for the first time to like the school environment. He stated that schools were one of first places where children’s behaviour and future educational success was shaped and therefore teachers must create a warm and protective environment at the same time be professional.

He stressed that the Adentan Municipal Assembly saw Education as the backbone for national growth and for that matter the Assembly as part of its responsibilities had taken keen interest in child development in all communities especially in the deprived areas.

He said as part of its contribution towards improving education in the municipality, the Assembly had constructed a number of school blocks and instituted scholarship fund for needy but brilliant students.

The Deputy Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon. Isaac Vanderpuje said parents should co-operate with teachers to supervise their children. “The Government is going to make sure the kids get all that they need in their studies,” he assured.
