Banda District Chief Executive Takes Office BA/R

The new District Chief Executive for Banda, Mr. Jacob Boateng has been sworn in at a short ceremony in the conference hall of the Brong Ahafo Regional Coordinating Council in Sunyani by the Regional Minister, Mr. Eric Opoku. The District Chief Executive took the Official Oath, Oath of allegiance and the Oath of Secrecy.


Speaking after the swearing in, the Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, Mr. Eric Opoku said the swearing in marks the final process of the nomination and appointment process. Mr. Eric Opoku congratulated the District Chief Executive on his nomination and appointment. 

“As a representative of the President in the District you have the responsibility to effectively mirror the image and aspiration of the President” the Minister charged Mr. Jacob Boateng. 

The regional Minister bemoaned the get rich syndrome of politicians which usually leads to perpetual destruction. He advised the District Chief Executive to be the servant of the people and not to lord it over them. “Don’t lord yourself over the people, be humble and always seek counsel where the need arises”. The regional Minister advised.

The regional Minister advised the District Chief Executive to make the Regional Coordinating Council his first point of call always since he reports directly to him, the Regional Minister. The Regional Minister bemoaned the violent nature that preceded the removal of the former District Chief Executive and appealed to the citizens of the area to always use dialogue to resolve misunderstandings that might arise. Mr. Eric Opoku urged the citizens of Banda to be measured in their demands on the District Chief Executive so that the necessary social amenities could be provided to the benefit of the people. 

On his part, the District Chief Executive, Mr. Jacob Boateng thanked the President for the opportunity given him to serve the people of Banda and pledged to work hard to justify the confidence repose in him. He appealed to citizens of Banda to always share their views on the development of the District with him and asked for their support in all aspects of his work.

The position of the Banda District Chief Executive became vacant following the removal of the former District Executive by President John Mahama over corruption allegations exposed by the Auditor General which this office widely reported on.
