Atebubu-Amantin Assembly Acquires Canoes For Two Communities

The Atebubu-Amantin District Assembly has acquired two canoes for two farming communities in the district to help ease their transportation difficulties and stem the perennial casualties that come with crossing two rivers in their communities.

The canoes that cost a total of four thousand Ghana cedis (GH₵ 4000.00) were given to Bolga Village and Jatoligri.

At a presentation of one of the canoes to the people of Bolga Village, the District Chief Executive, Mr. Sampson Owusu Boateng, urged the community to take very good care of the facility to ensure that it enjoyed a long lifespan and promised to rehabilitate an existing old one for the use of the residents.

The DCE said the road connecting the place to Bolga Nkwanta on the Atebubu-Yeji highway has already been awarded on contract under the Ghana Social Opportunities Project (GSOP) and that work would soon commence to enable them easily convey their farm produce mainly yam to market centers.

He added that to better enhance the living standards of the people, the assembly would soon provide the community with a school block and a teachers’ quarters while a motorbike would later be made available to them for easy access to the nearest health facility at Nyomoase under the Health for all Programme.

The elders of the community were grateful to the assembly for the gesture which they said would help solve a long standing problem.

Bolga Village and Jatoligri are bordered by rivers Nyomo and Sene and residents are saddled with difficulties in crossing the rivers especially during the peak of the rains when the level of water rises sometimes resulting in human casualties.

Present at the ceremony was Hon. Seidu Bawa, Presiding Member of the assembly and assembly member for the area.
