Visiting American First Lady, Melania Trump, has toured the Reproductive and Child Health Care Centre of the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, where she interacted with mothers, attending post natal care with their babies.

She is in the country on the first leg of her four-nation African visit, which would take her to Malawi, Kenya and Egypt.

She was accompanied to the facility by Ghana’s First Lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo.

Mrs Trump presented assorted mother care gift to babies at the hospital – sanitary pads, teddy bears, diapers and toiletry.

She also inspected the Neonatal and Infant Care Unit of the facility and here, donated medical equipment to the Unit to enhance the quality of care.

This is Mrs Trump’s first ever visit to Africa and the tour is focusing on promoting health care and education programmes run by US foreign aid organisation, USAID.

Her visit is also expected to promote her “Be Best” Campaign launched in May 2018, aimed at promoting the well-being for the youth and advocate against cyber bullying and drug use in Africa.

She is expected to travel to the Cape Coast Castle, whilst in Ghana and this is likely to give impetus to the West African country’s tourism development drive.
